California shootings

I just wanted to send warm thoughts, good energy, and heartfelt prayers to all the families of the victims and those who were wounded and hurt in the shootings last night at the Borderline Bar and Grill in Thousand Oaks, California.  Another senseless shooting, another batch of victims, another wave of wounded.  At the time of this post, there are 12 confirmed dead and many more, of course, wounded and treated at nearby hospitals.

Just nine months ago, 17 classmates were gunned down in Parkland, Florida.  Most recently, the worst attack on Jews in the history of our country, while they were worshipping at a synagogue in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.  It’s bewildering to me that an issue as important as common sense gun control, an issue that both democrats and republicans agree on by the way, can be frozen by the gun lobby.  The last credible poll that I saw indicated that more than 80% of registered democrats and republicans believe in universal background checks, stiffer regulation on assault style weapons, and closing traveling gun show loop holes to better align with national and state laws.  I don’t know of any other subject that all Americans agree on and we can’t move the goal posts one iota.

To our California brothers and sisters we simply say this:  We are sad for you.  We are sad for the police sergeant that lost his life in this attack.  We are sad for a 28-year-old Marine Corps veteran who served in Afghanistan that needed mental health help and never go it.  We are sad for you.  We are sad with you.  We are sad with you all.
